Body of man, dead of a self inflicted gunshot wound, was found off CR 40 West, west of Yankeetown

Levy County, Florida - According to the Levy Counrty Sheriff's Office (LCSO), on Wednesday afternoon, August 9, 2023, the body of a man was found lying on the side of County Road 40 West, in Ingis, Florida, just west of Yankeetown, Florida, lying in a grassy area, and deputies determined that the death was a suicide.
"Yes, the information that our agency was investigating a suicide is correct,"said LCSO Lieutenant Scott Tummond, Professional Standards Division/Records Custodian. "However, some information circulating is totally false. The subject, a male - not from the Ingils/Yankeetown area - was found on the side of the road with a self inflicted gunshot wound, thus ending his life. He was NOT found floating in the water."
Lieutenent Tummond stated that he could not provide additional information regarding the man's death, at this time, as the documentation concerning the man's death has not yet been completed.
