Levy County Jail: 3 inmates currently test positive for Covid 19

Levy County, Florida - Sheriff Bobby McCallum reported on Friday that 3 current inmates at the Levy County Jail have tested positive for COVID 19, which are the first positive tests amongst inmates during the Covid-19 pandemic.

These inmates did not contract the virus inside the jail, but had contracted it prior to their incarceration. Those inmates (two males and one female) are quarantined from other inmates and have minimal movement within the facility  Levy County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) staff members also have minimal contact with the quarantined inmates who receive daily medical care from medical staff members and the contracted medical provider.

Twenty total LCSO employees have tested positive for the virus to date, including Sheriff McCallum, and three employees are currently on leave due to testing positive for the virus. LCSO employees continue to carry out their duties as cautiously as possible.
