UPDATE:  SUSPECT DECEASED

The victim was identified as Ariel Griffin, a mother of two from Williston, Florida.

According to WGXA News in Macon, Georgia, deputies with the Dooly County (Georgia) Sheriff's Office spotted Segar's vehicle - a blue and yellow Chevrolet Silverado with the letters DGD on the side - in Pinehurst, Georgia and began a pursuit of the vehicle, during which Segar pointed a rifle out of his window and began firing shots. He twice ran off the roadway, then lost control of his vehicle, which flipped onto its right side. Deputies surrounded the vehicle and called in the Houston County (Georgia) Sheriff's Office Special Response Team, Georgia State Trooper aviators, Crisp County (Georgia) K9 units, Georgia Department of Corrections K9 units, agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the U.S. Marshals Service. After receiving no response from Segar, a robot was used to flip the vehicle to look inside it. When U.S. Marshals felt it was safe to approach Segar, he was found with a gunshot wound to his head. Dooly County EMS arrived on scene, pronounced Segar dead, and notified the local coroner. The case was turned over to the GBI for investigation.
