Anonymous tip leads to arrest of Morriston man; LCSO welcomes tips from public

On August 4, 2020 the Levy County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) received an anonymous tip that stolen property was being hidden at a 21030 SE 71st Place, Morriston residence.

Detectives from the agency's Criminal Investigation Division responded to this location and made contact with Oscar Gomez Guerra, 51, and several of his associates. 

Detectives obtained consent to search the property and found several stolen items and one item believed to be stolen, as well. The items included: •a 2012 white utility car carrier trailer that had been reported stolen to the Miami Dade Police Department, •a blue CFMOTO C Force 600 four-wheeler vehicle that had been reported stolen to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, •a 0.38-caliber Smith and Wesson revolver that had been reported stolen to the Ocala Police Department, and •a Kubota skid steer construction vehicle, believed to be stolen, from which the vehicle identification number (VIN) plate had been removed.  

Oscar Gomez Guerra was placed under arrest. He was charged with 2 counts of grand theft of a motor vehicle and possession of firearm by convicted felon. According to LCSO Lt. Scott Tummond, Guerra's criminal history includes 39 felony charges and 3 convictions.
