On July 31, Citrus County animal control officers and fire rescue personnel worked diligently to rescue an 11 year-old Rottweiler dog named Buck, who tumbled down an embankment during a walk into a 60 to 70 feet-deep pit, off Tram Road in Hernando.
Buck was unable to lift himself out of the pit due to arthritis in his hips. Buck and his owner anxiously waited while the officers worked to rescue this big boy! Their demeanor quickly changed to elation when the workers successfully rescued Buck!
Members of the fire rescue team repelled down the embankment, placed Buck onto a large stretcher, then safely pulled him from the pit. Accordng to animal control officers, Buck was in high spirits and doing well.
