The Citrus County Sheriff's Office was symmoned to a Citrus County residence, where a woman told deputies that Mr. Reyes had cut her juvenile child's face with a knife. She said, while she was at work, she'd received several calls from Reyes, who was very loud on the phone, telling her she needed to get her child out of the residece before he kills him/her, that he'd already cut her child once. (The child will be referred to with the non-gender pronouns zir, they, them or their, etc.) The woman told deputies, when she arrived home, Reyes said to her in a profance manner, to look at her child and see what he'd done to them. She said, while she cleaned her child's wound and tried to find out what had happened, Reyes went into the kitchen and grabbed a knife, then came into the room where she and her child were, and grabbed her child's face. She said she was able to take the knife from Reyes before he could harm her child again. She said Reyes then went into another room and advised everyone in the residence, that if anyone disturbed him, he would kill them all.
The juvenile victim told a deputy that zir was in the living room, playing a game on their Xbox, when Reyes began yelling at zir for not studying. Zir said that Reyes then grabbed zir by their shirt, ripping it, while pulling zir into zir's bedroom. Zir said that Reyes went into the kichen, obtained a large kichen knife, then walked toward zir, stating, "I'm going to kill you." The child told the deputy that they grabbed a school book and covered their stomach area with in, in fear. The victim stated that Reyes continued to yell, "I'm going to kill you," while stabbing the book several times, and with the sharp knife blade facing the child's cheek, Reyes then hit the child with the blade, which caused a laceration down the victim's cheek.
The deputy reported that the victim's shirt was ripped, and the victim also had a laceration to their left cheek, there was blood on the victim's shirt, on the floor and on the school book, which also has small puncture marks to its back cover. The deputy also located a large black-handled, stainless steel knife in the kitchen sink, wet from apparently being washed, that the victim identified as the knife Reyes used to cut their cheek.
Reyes, who does not speak English, was interviewed by a Spanish-speaking deputy. He allegedly told the deputy that he'd been arguing with the child for approximately a month about the victim's poor study habits, but he denied that he'd stabbed the victim's book or retrieved a second knife to harm the victim with.
