Non-fatal shooting of 16 year-old girl at Inverness' Holden Park believed to be accidental

According to Brittney Carman, Community Relations Supervisor with the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, on Sunday, April 24, 2022, her agency received a call for service at 1:08 p.m., with information that a 16 year-old girl had an apparent gunshot wound. Deputies responded to Holden Community Park, located at 4229 S. Rainbow Dr. in Inverness, Florida and rendered aid to the victim, who was transported to a hospital in stable condition. Detectives with the agency's Major Crimes division responded to the scene and collected information from the juvenile victim and another witness on scene, and while the case is still open, pending further investigation, preliminary information is leading detectives to believe this shooting may have been accidental, according to Ms. Carman.
