Levy County, Florida - On March 29, detectives with the Levy County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) arrested 36 year-old Shawn Allen Kohler, of Chiefland, FL, who is accused of having sexual intercourse with a minor.
According to the LCSO, Kohler works as a store clerk at a convenience store in Fanning Springs, Florida, and he met the juvenile while he was working at the store on March 20, 2022. Detectives collected video surveillance from the store that showed Kohler and the underage girl meeting while he was working and then walking out of the store together. The surveillance shows the two entering Kohler's vehicle, that was parked nearby, and they remained at the store, inside his parked vehicle, for some time, during which the two allegedly had sexual intercourse. Additional evidence collected by detectives supports the statements made by the victim, according to LCSO Lt. Scott Tummond.
Kohler was charged with sexual assault of a person under the age of 18, and incarcerated at the Levy County Detention Bureau with his bond set at $100,000.
Detectives are concerned that other women may have fallen victim to Kohler. Victims are asked to contact Detective Shelby Kilian at 352-486-5111, extension 276. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous and report information about this, or any other crime, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-877-349-8477 and possibly be eligible for a cash reward.
