The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) recently announced that Citrus County Board of County Commissioners in Florida is receiving the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.
In order to receive the budget award, the county had to publish a budget document that meets nationally recognized criteria as a policy document, as a financial plan, as an operations guide, and as a communications device. The budget documents must be rated as proficient in all four categories and the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories.
According the letter sent by GFOA, this achievement, "Reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of government budgeting."
GFOA is a major professional association servicing the needs of more than 19,000 appointed and elected local, state, and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners. This is the 15th year that Citrus County has received this award.
