Bronson, Florida - Levy County detectives have filed new charges on Robert Burkhart, 29, of Bronson, Florida, who has been incarcerated at the Levy County Detention Bureau in Bronson since May, 2021, on numerous charges that include aggravated child abuse, and an aggravated battery that stemmed from a domestic dispute. He is being held on a $300,000, bond which will increase after his first appearance on the new charges (see * below).

According to LCSO Lt. Scott Tummond, detectives learned that Burkhart was involved in a romantic affair with a then-17 year-old girl that began in 2020. Unknown to this girl, Burkhart was using his cell phone to photograph and video record her while they were engaged in sexual encounters. The victim recently learned that Burkhart had used his phone for this purpose, and provided law enforcement officers with this information.

*Detectives secured a search warrant for the phone in question and found the photographs and videos the victim described. Detectives then filed additional charges against Burkhart of production of child pornography and use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony. It is unknown if Burkhart sent any of these photos or videos to any other person.

Detectives believe that Burkhart may have additional victims who have yet to come forward to report his crimes. Any person who has information to aid this ongoing investigation, or would like to report any crime Burkhart may have committed, is asked to contact Detective Ryan Sullivan at 352-486-5111 extension 360, or Crime Stoppers at 877-349-8477, to remain anonymous.
