Citrus County, Florida -  On Friday morning, February 11, 2022, Detective Robaldo Ramos, with the Citrus County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) Major Crimes Division, arrested 29 year-old Daniel Arthur Redman, of Inverness, Florida at a secure medical facility, where he was in custody, for the January 14, 2022 murder of his 19 year-old brother, Brenden Ray Redman.

On January 14, about 9:00 pm, CCSO deputies responded to a residence on E. Dawson Dr. in Inverness, Florida, due to the report of a shooting, and arrived to find victim Brenden Redman lying in a driveway with apparent gunshot wounds. He was air-lifted to a Marion County, Florida hospital where he was later pronounced deceased from his injuries.

Witnesses told deputies that the suspect, Daniel Redman, who had been released from prison on January 9, 2022, had tried to break into their home before he fled on foot. Deputies tracked Daniel to woman's motor home, about a quarter-mile away, holding the woman hostage. In response to commands from deputies, Daniel Redmon eventually released the hostage, and when Redmon refused to show his hands and instead reached behind his back toward his waistband, one of the deputies fired a single shot, which struck Daniel Redmon, who was transported to an area hospital in unstated condition.

The deputy who fired the shot was placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), which is customary in a deputy-involved shooting.

On February 11, Daniel Redman was formally arrested on several charges related to this incident, which include possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, shooting a deadly missile into a dwelling or conveyance, burglary with battery, premeditated murder, and kidnapping with intent to commit a felony. He was transported to the Lake Butler Correctional Facility in Lake Butler, Florida. The Reception and Medical Center (RMC) is a secure medical facility and state prison in Lake Butler, Florida.

"The immediate action and quick thinking our deputies demonstrated in this grisly situation speaks volumes to the rigorous training they undergo to serve our citizens," said Citrus County Sheriff Mike Prendergast. "In this situation, every second counted, where our deputies were able to respond immediately and save the life of another victim. I commend our outstanding team of professionals for their dedication and thoroughness during this difficult case."
