Levy County Sheriff's Office (LCSO)

Levy County, Florida - Operation Safe Haven, a recent two-months-long effort by the Levy County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) Sex Offender Unit to locate and verify the addresses of sex offenders living in Levy County and ensuring they were in compliance with Florida's mandated registration requiremets for sex offenders, resulted in nine arrests for various sex offender registration violations.

The arrests include (alphabetically by last name):
Fredrick Charles Carpenter, 55, of Chiefland, Florida
Alexander Reed Clary, 63, of Williston, Florida
Jerome Horatio Clemons, 44, of Trenton, Florida
Nicole Thalia Down, 42, of Cedar Key, Florida
Karen “Terry” Edwards, 50, of Chiefland, Florida
Michael Clyde Farley, 66, of Morriston, Florida
Christopher Hahn, 40, of Bronson, Florida
Anthony Terrell Hutto, 50, of Bronson, Florida
Steven Stacy, 38, of Williston, Florida

All the arrests were made within Levy County, with the exception of Christopher Hahn, 40, an absconded sex offender from Duval County, Florida, that was made by law enforcement authorities in West Virginia. Mr. Hahn Hahn, who had recently been released from prison and claimed to live at an address in Levy County, failed to appear for his second registration appointment in Jacksonville, Florida. Levy County detectives learned that Hahn was living in a tent on a vacant parcel of land near Bronson, and he had made no attempt to register this location as his place of residence. While working as a truck driver, Mr. Hahn had visited nearly twenty states since he'd absconded from sex registration requirements. Detectives secured a warrant for his arrest and requested the assistance of the United States Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force to locate and apprehend him. Hahn was located at a truck stop in West Virginia by Federal Agents and taken into custody.

“The hard and dedicated work these detectives invested into this operation is evident," said Levy County Sheriff Bobby McCallum. "Sex offenders who choose to live in Levy County will not be allowed to simply disappear. Our detectives will guarantee they are living by the requirements the State has mandated, and if they do not, we will arrest them.”

"Sheriff McCallum is dedicated to ensuring the safety of his community for all who live here or visit Levy County," added LCSO Lt. Scott Tummond.
