UPDATED: Susan Marie Parker, 62, of Inverness, FL, was arrested by the Levy County Sheriff's Office, Nov. 9, charged with battery of a person 65 years of age or older ($50,000 bond). A deputy was dispatched to the Yankeetown boat ramp, located at 8000 County Road 40 West in Yankeetown, FL, due to the complaint of a battery. The deputy arrived to find that Ms. Parker, the suspect, had left the area in a gray Dodge minivan, and he conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on CR 40 West at 66th St. in Yankeetown. The victim told the deputy that he was loading up his fishing gear, with the van's rear hatch open, when Ms. Parker arrived, stating that she would be driving hom home. The victim told the deputy that he didn't want to ride with Parker, but he didn't want to get stranded at the boat ramp, so he climbed into the passenger seat to get the keys when Ms. Parker struck the right side of his face, several times with a shoe; he said when he finally obtained the keys, the car stopped, but she soon took off with some of his fishing items falling from the rear of the vehicle. The report stated there were rubber marks on the pavement from the spinning of the van's tires, but no visable marks to the victim's face. Ms. Parker told the deputy that she attempted to get the victim to go with her in the van, but he refused to get inside the vehicle, so she left without him, at a high rate of speed, because he was attempting to remove the keys from the ignition; she denied that she'd struck the victim. There were two witnesses to the incident. One witness said that the victim was in the passenger seat of the vehicle, with his feet dangling from the open vehicle door while the vehicle was in motion, that the man was attempting to get the keys from the ignition while the woman was striking his head with a shoe; he said the vehicle stopped and the man exited the vehicle, and the woman then took off at high rate of speed. A second witness told the deputy that the woman arrived via an Uber ride and began arguing with the victim, who climbed into the passenger side of the vehicle, and although he didn't see Ms. Parker strike the victim, he could hear the man saying "stop" numerous times and see the woman throwing items out of the vehicle; he said the vehicle stopped and the victim exited the vehicle, and the van then took off at a high rate of speed.
