Levy County, Florida - The Levy County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of 23 year-old James Robert McCualsky, Jr., of Old Town, Florida, that occurred during the early morning hours of Saturday, October 30, about 5:30 am, at a residence south of Chiefland, Florida.
According to Levy County Undersheriff Brett Beauchamp, the investigation, thus far, shows that Mr. McCualsky suffered a single gunshot wound during the incident. He was treated on the scene and transported to a Gainesville, Florida hospital by the Levy County Department of Public Safety, but later succumbed to his injuries.
The crime scene was processed by members of the LCSO Criminal Investigations Division. Detectives are confident that they have identified all of the persons involved in the incident. The investigation is ongoing, but no criminal charges are anticipated at this time. Further details will be released at the conslusion of the investigation, according to a press release.
