Man found shoplifting while deputy prepares to trespass him from store

    Charles Edward Yearwood, III, 29, of Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, June 28, after a deputy arrived at the Homosassa Walmart store to trespass a man, later identified as Mr. Yearwood, from the store with the complaint that he had entered and exited the store several times and broken down the temporary barriers in place for social distancing.
   While the deputy was speaking with a store employee about Mr. Yearwood, he saw Mr. Yearwood walk quickly from the store with two unbagged items in his hands, a two-burner hot plate and a portable closet. A female store associate loudly stated to the deputy and the other store employee that the suspect had just stolen the two items.
   Mr. Yearwood was taken into custody. A review of the store's surveillance showed that Mr. Yearwood had taken the items from the store's stock to the Customer Service area, providing a previouly obtained receipt for the closet and receiving a cash refund, but not having a receipt for the double burner and receiving a store gift card for the value of that item, receiving a total of $42.24 for the two items he'd taken from the shelf. Mr. Yearwood was charged with retail petit theft of $100 or less ($500 bond).
