Man arrested in Williston Highlands, charged with trafficking amphetamine

Williston, Florida - On Thursday, June 10, shortly after 12:00 noon, a traffic stop was conducted on a white Lincoln passnger car on NE 139th Ave. in the Williston Highlands area by LCSO Lieutenant Mike Narayan. The driver was 31 year-old Tye Hamilton Pierce, 31, of Bronson, the only occupant of the vehicle.
Sgt. Kevin Kinik and his K-9 partner, Zombie, responded to the location. Zombie gave a positive alert for the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle, which was searched. During the search of the vehicle, deputies located 35 grams of a cryystalline substance that tested positive for amphetamine, along with a loaded revolver.
Pierce was charged with trafficking in amphetamine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon ($100,000 bond). He was transported to the Levy County Detention Bureau.
According to the Florida Statutes, being in possession of more than 14 grams of amphetamine constitutes a charge of trafficking the drug, and a conviction of being in possession of more than 28 grams of amphetamine results in a mandatory minimum imprisonment of 7 years, and a fine of $100,000.
According to LCSO Undersheriff Brett Beauchamp, Tye Pierce’s father, George Pierce, was the victim of homicide in Levy County in December of 2012, and as of this time, the case remains unsolved.
