On July 18, at 3:13 pm, Charles Russel Means, 22, of Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, after two calls for service in Homosassa linked him to an unsolved burglary case in which a 1996 white Suzuki motorcycle had been reported stolen from an Inverness residence on Nov. 16, 2019.

The first call for service was to the Bell Villa Mobile Home Park, located at 3450 S. Suncoast Blvd., regarding two suspicious males, with a motorcycle, getting into disputes with residents at the mobile home park. The complainant had recorded a video of the incident.

The second complaint was regarding two males with a motorcycle, who were said to be using narcotics behind Hall's River Plaza, located at 3538 S. Suncoast Blvd. The complaint was made by construction workers who were concerned due to having valuables inside their parked vehicles.

When confronted by the construction workers, the report stated, the two men ran across the street to the Bell Villa Motel and left behind the purple Suzuki motorcycle.

The deputy, who'd had previous encounters with Mr. Means, was able to identify him when he viewed the video of the altercation at the mobile home park.

The motorcycle was identified as the stolen white Suzuki motorcycle that had been painted purple.

The deputy spoke with Mr. Means at Room 5 of the Bell Villa Motel. He told the deputy that the altercation had been verbal, not physical. He also said that he'd been gifted with the motorcycle by a friend, the previous day, and had no idea it was stolen.

He was charged with theft of a motor vehicle ($2,000 bond).
