On March 8, transcriber Jamie Brooks retired from nearly 19 years of service with the Citrus County Sheriff's Office.

"Ms. Brooks has truly excelled in her career with the Citrus County Sheriff's Office," said Citrus County Sheriff Mike Prendergast. "We are humbled to have worked alongside such a remarkable colleague. Stay safe, and we wish you the best in your future aspirations."

Ms. Brooks began her career with the agency in August, 2002 as a Communications Officer, answering calls for service from Citrus County citizens needing assistance. Three years later, Ms. Brooks took on a vital role in the Staff Services office as a Staff Assistant where she helped in the ordering and distribution of various equipment and safety gear for sheriff's office personnel. In 2018, Ms. Brooks moved to a position of Report Transcriptionist, aiding in creating and verifying accuracy of deputies' reports. Her role in this department supported law enforcement operations, as it allowed deputies to complete reports with a quick turnaround time so they could focus more of their time on patrols within the community.

Throughout her career, Ms. Brooks has exemplified one of the agency's core goals - service above self. She received multiple perfect attendance awards and was recently honored with a Certificate of Commendation for her dynamic role in Operation Coin Toss, a year-long campaign that targeted drug dealers in Citrus County and resulted in record-breaking numbers of arrests.
