Sheriff Prendergast elected Chairman, Board of Directors, Sheriff’s Ranches Enterprises Board

I believe it should be the mission of every law enforcement agency to connect with the at-risk youth in their community and assist them in becoming successful, productive members of society. It is this passion for providing a stepping stone to these young men and women that brought me to volunteer to serve on the board of the Sheriff’s Ranches Enterprises.
Through the Youth Ranches’ impressive 63 year history, they have had the opportunity to assist over 165,000 children and families in need throughout Florida by providing residential child-care campuses, as well as engaging and educational summer camps. These programs help to further the Youth Ranches’ mission “to prevent delinquency and develop lawful, resilient and productive citizens.”
Since taking office in 2017, I have been honored to spend numerous hours working alongside my colleagues in law enforcement and the amazing staff at the Youth Ranches who dedicate their lives to making this organization’s mission possible.
This month, I was voted in to serve as Chairman of the Sheriff’s Ranches Enterprise Board of Directors of the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranches, a position I could not be more honored to serve in. I truly look forward to having the opportunity to make a difference, not just in the lives of children here in Citrus County, but across the great state of Florida.
I want to assure citizens of this: the men and women serving the Florida Sheriff’s Youth ranches, my self included, will not stop dedicating our time and effort to this invaluable cause until every boy and girl in need across our state has access to these crucial programs.
