Two women rescued after falling off cliff, spending Christmas night at Lecanto, FL golf course

Lecanto, Florida — At 9:59 am on Thursday morning, December 26, 2024, Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to the clubhouse of the The Quarry Golf Course at Black Diamond Ranch, located at 3125 W. Black Diamond Circle in Lecanto, due to the report of two women who had suffered a serious fall.

The caller reported that the women had fallen approximately 50 feet from a cliff near Hole 17, and they had been stranded at the location overnight.

Support by air medical services was requested, but due to adverse weather conditions, all air medical services declined to respond to the location, according to Citrus County Fire Rescue.

Rescue personnel from the Pine Ridge Fire Department arrived on the scene at 10:05 am and coordinated rescue efforts with maintenance personnel from Black Diamond Ranch. First responders used golf carts to access the quarry, and found the two women conscious and breathing. The women were medically stabilized, transported via golf carts to the top of the quarry, then transported to a local trauma hospital for further treatment. No information was released as to the condition
of the two women.
