According to WPTV, West Palm Beach, Florida (AP via Scripps News), the deceased pilot is Steve Mensch, 62, of Fayetteville, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. Prior to his death, Mr. Mensch was the president and general manager of Atlanta-based Tyler Perry Studios. He is survived by his wife, Danila, and three children. Read the article at:

Florida Highway Patrol
Homosassa, Florida - At 8:05 pm on Friday, December 6, 2024, the Florida Highway Patrol, Citrus County Sheriff's Office, and Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to West White Dogwood Drive, near the intersection of U.S. Highway 19 in Homosassa, south of the Crystal River, Florida airport, due to the crash of a single engine, fixed-wing airplane. The airplane was identified as a Vans RV-12IS. An adult male occupant of the aircraft was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. Traffic lanes on U.S. Highway 19 were closed and traffic in some lanes were diverted for several hours due to the investigation. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are investigating the crash.
