Michael Fletcher Funeral Procession - Saturday, July 13, 2024, 9:45 am
To honor the memory and service of the late Captain Michael Fletcher, a funeral
procession will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at approximately 9:45
am. The procession will start at DeRosa Fire Station 9, located at 10165 N. Citrus
Avenue in Crystal River, Florida, and end at the church where the funeral will take
place at 11:00 am - Seven Rivers Church, located at 4221 W. Gulf to Lake Hwy.,
Lecanto, Florida 34461. The procession will proceed along the designated route
(listed below in red). There will be temporary road closures to accommodate the
event.
Citrus County Fire Rescue asks the public to be aware of these closures and plan
their travel accordingly. The community is invited and encouraged the to stand
along the procession route, in a safe location, to pay their respects to Captain
Fletcher’s personal and fire rescue families as they make their way to the church.
Your presence and support during this time of mourning will be greatly appreciated
by Captain Fletcher's family and Citrus County Fire Rescue.

Crystal River, Florida — Citrus County Fire Rescue announces the passing of 41 year-old Michael Fletcher, an esteemed training captain, due to an off-duty boating incident that occurred in Crystal River on Thursday night, July 4, 2024.
Michael Fletcher dedicated six years of service to Citrus County Fire Rescue after serving approximately 20 years with Marion County Fire Rescue, demonstrating exceptional leadership and expertise in training firefighters to uphold the highest standards of safety and service.
"Captain Michael Fletcher was a pillar of our department, known for his dedication and compassion. His loss is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of working alongside him," said CCFR Fire Chief Craig Stevens.
“I am deeply saddened by the death of one of Citrus County’s own, Captain Michael Fletcher,” said Citrus County Administrator Steve Howard. “I extend my deepest and utmost condolences, to Captain Fletcher’s family, and to each member of Citrus County Fire Rescue on the loss of a brother.”
Citrus County Fire Rescue requested privacy for Captain Fletcher's family, in regard to funeral arrangements and memorial services, stating that the agency would communicate this information once it is finalized.
