Fraud Alert
Have you received a call from someone who claims to be a Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller’s office employee?
Our office will periodically issue an alert - when we've been made aware of schemes where people impersonate Clerk employees in order to get others to send money or disclose personal information, such as their Social Security number or bank account numbers.
Clerk’s office employees do not call people to demand payment to avoid being served with a court warrant, summons or subpoena.
If you receive a call and you are unsure about it, do not provide any personal information. Write down as much information as you can about the call, and contact the Clerk’s office at (352) 341-6424.
It is easy to check the Clerk’s online court case system, SCORSS, to see if you have an open court case in Citrus County. Go to www.citrusclerk.org and click on the “Court Records Search" (SCORSS) link from the home page. If you are on our ClerkApp, click on the link for “Online Record Search.” Once in SCORSS, enter your last and first name on the search criteria page, then click the Search button. An account is not required to search for case information.
If you think you may have been the victim of a scam in Citrus County, Florida, you should contact the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office at (352) 341-6525. Florida residents can also call the Florida Division of Consumer Services at (800) HELP-FLA. If you have been the victim of a scam, and you are not a Florida resident, call (850) 410-3800.
