Two members from Citrus County Fire Rescue returned home on Friday, September 8, 2023, after responding to Old Town and Horseshoe Beach as part of Tender Strike Team 4401's response to Hurricane Idalia. Lt. Jesse Mullis and Driver Engineer Nathan VanBuren spent the last week helping with the recovery effort from Hurricane Idalia, working with both FEMA and local agencies, with whatever was needed to help residents pick up the pieces left behind by the storm.
“Citrus County Fire Rescue was fortunate enough during Hurricane Idalia, that we were able to send some of our resources to our northern counties. We are very proud of Lt. Mullis and Driver Engineer VanBuren for voluntarily deploying as part of a Tender Strike Team to assist others in their time of need,”said Fire Chief Craig Stevens.
