Crystal River, FL (August 13, 2020)– Bayfront Health ER Citrus Hills (BHER), a freestanding Emergency Department associated with Bayfront Health Seven Rivers, is set to open and receive patients on Saturday, August 22, at 9:00 am. Bayfront Health ER Citrus Hills is conveniently located at the northwest corner of West Norvell Bryant Highway and North Terra Vista boulevard, at 907 West Norvell Bryant Highway in Hernando, Florida.

“Demand for emergency services in the area continues to increase and Bayfront Health ER Citrus Hills will provide an additional access point to quality care for people in Citrus Hills and surrounding areas,” said Linda Stockton, CEO at Bayfront Health Seven Rivers. “Our freestanding emergency department will provide the same level of care as the hospital emergency department. Patients can expect quick access to care as well as outpatient lab and imaging services.”

Like any hospital emergency department, the new Bayfront Health Health ER Citrus Hills will be equipped to treat patients with illnesses and injuries that require a higher level of care than urgent care facilities offer. Many emergency services can be effectively managed at freestanding emergency departments without the need for transfer to a traditional hospital setting.  The new 10,500 square foot facility will include 12 treatment areas, a triage room and lab and imaging services. Outpatient lab and imaging services are also available on-site. Board-certified physicians, registered nurses and other patient care providers will staff the emergency department.

“From sprains and broken bones to strokes and heart attacks, Bayfront Health ER Citrus Hills is prepared to help children and adults in our community,” says Starla Whaley, Director of Emergency Services at Bayfront Health Seven Rivers and Bayfront Health ER Citrus Hills.

Bayfront Health ER Citrus Hills has invested approximately $12.3 million dollars into the community, creating more than 30 new jobs and enhancing access to emergency services for a growing area within Citrus County.

“On behalf of our entire team, we are pleased to be a part of the Citrus Hills community and are looking forward to providing our patients with access to high quality emergency medical care,” said Roderick Bennett, Medical Director of Emergency Services at Bayfront Health Seven Rivers and Facility Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Bayfront Health ER Citrus Hills.

Community members are invited to attend a Virtual Open House and Tour on Tuesday, August 18, at 12:00 pm noon, or 6:00 pm, via Google Meets.
