Daniel Ball, 38, of Homosassa, Florida was arrested by the FBI in Inverness, Florida, May 2, for his role in the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol Building in Washington D.C. Ball is the only defendant charged with setting off an explosive device during the attack. 

According to reports, Ball was charged with 12 counts that include assaulting, resisting or impeding officers with a deadly or dangerous weapon; using an explosive device to commit a felony, and obstruction of law enforcement during a civil disorder.

He's accused of working with other rioters to push against uniformed police officers who were attempting to keep them out of the Capitol Building, and also of throwing an explosive device into the entranceway. Several officers allegedly suffered temporary loss of hearing and psychological trauma due to the explosion.

According to NBC, a few months after the Capitol attack, Ball was arrested in Florida, charged with battery against five civilians and two law enforcement officers. He was convicted and sentenced to five years' probation.
