W.A.R. working on health of the Withlacoochee River, seeking new members

Withlacoochee Aquatic Restoration has been around since 1984 when a group banded together to argue in behalf of the community against adverse impacts from a neighboring mine operation. They prevailed in that battle and in many others that have sought to encroach on your piece of paradise. Some years ago the organization embarked on a science based analysis of the lower river, or put another way, your back yard. This was done because of the perception that the river was dying and it was not something we were willing to accept. The river is the heart of our community and we refuse to let it pass on into oblivion without a fight.
The number of members over the years has fluctuated as you might imagine, and is usually proportional to whatever perceived evil we face at the moment. It has ranged from 30'ish to over 400 and at present we estimate something over 100 members. We are firm in our belief that the circumstances confronting the river and communities is the biggest threat we have faced. If you would like to help we would welcome your participation! A copy of the membership application is attached and has a schedule for dues. It is not costly, but you can rest assured that every penny we spend goes to the betterment of our communities!
Please note that additional donations are very much appreciated and are tax deductible due to the organization's status as a 501.C3 non-profit. A donation of $1000.00 brings lifetime membership and you may specify how you wish the funds to be utilized.
We have looming vacancies on the executive board and if you have any interest in contributing a small bit of time and attention, please let us know!
