Free Cat Adoptions to Citrus & Other Counties

According to Citrus County Animal Services (CCAS), many of the cats recovered from a recent animal cruelty situation have been evaluated, medically treated, and are now available for adoption. This includes one cat, Cuddles, who will requires an adopter who is willing to assist her with her special needs.

The animals available for adoption at CCAS are listed on the Citrus County website: www.citrusbocc.com/departments/community_services/animal_services/find_a_pet.php. This site is updated in real-time and has the most up-to-date listings of animals available for adoption, so check back frequently for updates.

For adoptable animals currently housed at CCAS, adoption fees have been waived, until further notice, to assist with placement, and adoptions are available, not only to Citrus County residents, but also to residents of other counties. Citrus County residents will still be required to pay a license fee of $10 while adoption fees are waived.

Those who cannot adopt at this time are encouraged to consider fostering a cat until the cat is placed into a permanent home. Learn more CCAS's “Fabulous Foster Program,” by calling 352-746-8400 or by emailing Leigh Sweet at leigh.sweet@citrusbocc.com.

CCAS is currently operating by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, please call 352-746-8400. If a staff member is unable to answer the phone due to a large call volume, please leave a message, and your call will be returned.

For more information, please contact CCAS at 352-746-8400 or email colleen.yarbrough@citrusbocc.com.
