UPDATE: FOUND SAFE
After a one-day search, Douglas Edwin Smith, 68, was found, with no apparent injuries, around 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 29, in a wooded area near Crystal Gem Manor Assisted Living Facility, located at 10845 W. Gem St. in Crystal River, FL. Agencies that participated in the search included the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, Citrus County Fire Rescue, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida Forest Service, Nature Coast EMS and Find-M' Friends.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office is searching for a missing adult who suffers from dementia, 68 year-old Douglas Edwin Smith of Crystal River, Florida, who was last seen at 5:00 am on June 28, wearing a black shirt, khaki cargo shorts or blue jeans, white socks and no shoes.
Douglas is a white male who is 6 feet tall, weighs 225 pounds, and has brown and grey hair, a long beard, and brown eyes. Mr. Smith is believed to have left walking, and his direction of travel and destination is unknown.
