Citrus Springs traffic crash, Feb. 10, results in injuries to three area residents

Citrus County, Florida - A traffic crash that occurred at 12:00 pm noon on Wednesday, February 10, critically injured the driver of a sedan and seriously injured both passengers of a pickup truck. The crash occurred at the intersection of W. Hampshire Blvd. at N. Elkcam Blvd. in Citrus Springs, Florida.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a sedan, driven by an 80 year-old man from Beverly Hills, Florida, was traveling west on W. Hampshire Blvd., approaching a stop sign at the intersection of N. Elkcam Blvd. and failed to stop at the stop sign, entered into the patch of a pickup truck that was traveling south on N. Elkcam Blvd., driven by a 73 year-old man from Homosassa, Florida, and crashed into the truck. After the impact, both vehicles rotated onto the shoulder of the roadway, and the pickup truck collided with a stop sign and overturned several times.
The 80 year-old driver of the sedan received critical injuries, and the 73 year-old driver of the pickup truck and his 65 year-old female passenger, also of Homosassa, received serious injuries. The crash report stated that each of the three passegers was wearing a seatbelt.
The names of the passengers were not released, as the FHP no longer releases identifying infomation in its press releases, citing Marsy's Law, Florida's victim protection law, as the reason.
