Citrus County, Florida - A 23 year old Homosassa resident lost his life, early Saturday morning, Jan. 30, during a single-vehicle traffic crash that occurred in the area of Homosassa, Florida known as Old Homosassa.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred at 1:20 am, as the young man was driving a pickup truck, traveling west on W. Yulee Dr., approaching the intersection with W. Fishbowl Dr. While making a right turn onto W. Fishbowl Dr., the driver lost control on the vehicle, which rotated onto the south shoulder of the roadway and collided with a tree. The driver, whose name was not revealed in the press release, suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The release stated that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
In its press releases, the FHP no longer identifies the people or the specific models of vehicles involved in traffic crashes, citing Marsy's Law, Florida's victim protection law, as the reason.
