Brooksville man killed, Trenton woman seriosly injured, in Jan. 20, Levy County crash

Levy County, Florida - The Florida Highway Patrol is investigatig a two-vehicle fatal traffic crash that occurred in Levy County on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 3:15 pm, at the intersection of County Road 241 and County Road 343. The crash caused both lanes of CR 343, west of CR 241, to be closed for a time after the crash.

According to a press release by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 52 year old woman from Trenton, Florida was driving a dark colored pickup truck, traveling west on County Road 343, approaching the intersection with County Road 241. At the same etime, a 59 year-old man from Brooksville, Florida was driving a white cargo van, traveling south on County Road 241, approaching the inersection with County Road 343. 

The pickup truck traveled west, through the stop sign and stop bar at the intersection of County Road 241, violating the van's right of way, wich caused the two vehicles to collide and travel onto the southwest shoulder where they came to final rest.

The Brooksville man, the driver of the van, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The Trenton woman who drove the pickup truck was transported to University of Florida Health, Shands Hospital with serious injuries.
