One dead and two seriously injuried as result of Jan. 20, Crystal River crash

Citrus County, Florida - Two Inglis residents in one vehicle were seriously injuried and the driver of the other vehicle later died at an area hospital as the result of a two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 20, in Crystal River. The crash occurred at 4:21 pm at the intersection of N. Suncoast Blvd. (US 19) and W. Dunnellon Rd. (CR 488). 

According to the Florida Highwhay Patrol (FHP), the 70 year-old Dunnellon man who died as a result of the crash was driving a sedan, traveling south on US 19 in the left turn lane, approaching the intersection with W. Dunnellon Rd., while a second sedan was traveling north on US 19 in the outside travel lane approaching W. Dunnellon Road. 

Under a green traffic signal, the Dunnellon man turned left into the path of the second sedan which caused the second sedan, driven by a 57 year-old Inglis, Florida man, to collide into its right side. The Inglis driver carried a 56 year-old Inglis man as his passenger.

According to the FHP, the Dunnellon driver was not wearing a seatbelt and the two Inglis men were. The names of the three passengers were not released due to Marsy's Law, which protecta victims in Florida.
