Crystal River, Florida - Both drivers were killed as the result of a two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred at 2:00 am on Saturday, Jan. 16, in Crystal Rivver. 

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 26 year-old Lecanto, FL man was driving a pickup truck, traveling south on CR 495, south of West Pine Bluff Street, while a sedan, driven by a 34 year-old Citrus Springs woman, was traveling north. 

For unknown reasons, the pickup truck entered the northbound lane and collided, nearly head-on, with the sedan. After the impact, the truck rotated and then overturned before coming to final rest across both lanes. The sedan rotated to final rest along the shoulder of the roadway. Both drivers suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. 

In its press releases, the Florida Highway Patrol no longer identifies the passengers or the specific models of vehicles involved in traffic crashes
