Inverness man killed in fiery head-on crash, US 98 in Pasco County, Dec. 18

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 36 year-old Inverness man, the sole passenger in a sports utility vehicle (SUV), was killed as the result of a two-vehicle, head-on crash with a pickup truck. The crash occurred at 8:15 pm on Friday evening, Dec. 18, on US 98 at Station Hall Rd. in Pasco County, FL. The 53 year-old male  driver of the truck received minor injuries, and his 22 year-old female passenger received serious injuries in the crash.

According to a press release, the Inverness man was traveling north on US 98, approaching Station Hall Rd., while the truck was traveling south on US 98. For unknown reasons, the Inverness man's SUV entered the path of the truck, and the two vehicles collided head-on. Upon impact, the SUV became engulfed in fire, and the driver suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.

Citing Marsy's Law as the reason, the FHP no longer identifies the people or the specific models of vehicles in its press releases regarding traffic crashes.
