Dunnellon woman killed, 5 year-old Dunnellon boy critically injured, in Nov. 4, Hernando crash

Citrus County, Florida - At 6:13 pm on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 4, 2020, a 25 year-old Dunnellon woman was killed, and her 5 year-old male passenger, also of Dunnellon, was critically injured in a two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred at the intersection of N. Carl G. Rose Hwy. (SR 200) and N. Lecanto Hwy. (CR 491) in Hernando, FL.

According to a press release by the Florida Highway Patrol, the Dunnellon woman was driving a sedan on S. Lecanto Hwy. while a 25 year-old Inverness man was driving a sports utility vehicle (SUV), traveling south on N. Carl G. Rose Hwy., and at the intersection of the two roadways, the Dunnellon woman turned left, into the path of the SUV, which caused the front of the SUV to collide with the left side of the sedan. 

After the impact, the sedan rotated to final rest on the west side of the roadway, while the SUV came to final rest, facing east, in the center of the roadway. 

The Dunnellon woman was transported to an area hospital, where she later expired from injuries sustained during the crash. The press release stated that the Inverness man was not injured during the crash, and that everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt.
