Dunnellon man dies, Beverly Hills man critically injured, as result of Nov. 6, Alachua County, FL crash

A 22 year-old Dunnellon man driving a sedan was fatally injured and his 21 year-old Beverly Hills male passenger was critically injured as the result of a two-vehicle crash with a pickup truck that occurred in Alachua County, FL on Friday, Nov. 6, 2020 at 12:30 pm, at the intersection of State Road 20 and County Road 234.

According to a press release by the Florida Highway Patrol, the pickup truck was driven by a 46 year-old Ocklawaha, FL man, and was traveling north on County Road 234, approaching a stop sign in the median break of State Road 20 and County Road 234, when it continued into the intersection and struck the left side of the sedan with its front. The sedan was traveling west on State Road 20.

After the impact, the truck came to rest facing south on County Road 234, while the sedan came to rest facing northeast on the north shoulder of State Road 20, in the ditch. 

The 22 year-old Dunnellon, FL man was pronounced deceased at UF Health Shands hospital in Gainesville, FL. The 46 year-old Ocklawaha man who drove the pickup truck was reported in serious condition, while his 25 year-old passenger, a 25 year-old Ocklawaha man, was reported to have minor injuries.

The westbound lanes of State Road 20 were closed for several hours during the crash investigation, which is ongoing. The press release stated that each of the four passengers involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt.
