Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Troop C

On Sunday, August 31, 2025, following the release of a Ring video showing the suspeced vehicle involved in a hit and run crash on 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025 that resulted in the injury of a pedestrian on North Golfview Drive in Citrus Springs, Florida, several anonymous tips were received by law enforcement which led to the capture of 46 year-old Jeffrey Alan Ackroyd of Dunnellon, Florida. Just after 6:00 p.m., Ackroyd and his vehicle were located at a relative’s home located at 2600 block of East Monarch Court in Dunnellon, where he was taken into custody and charged with leaving the scene of a crash with serious injuries. 

Ackroyd was transported to the Citrus County Detention Facility in Lecanto, Florida following his arrest.
