Inverness woman, reported missing April 17, found April 26, deceased from car crash on CR 491 in Lecanto

Lecanto, Florida - At 3:00 pm on Saturday afternoon, April 26, 2025, the scene of a single-vehicle traffic crash was located on County Road 491 (S. Lecanto Highway) in Lecanto, (Citrus County) Florida.

A press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, stated that the driver, a 67-year-old woman from Inverness, Florida, was driving a Chevy Cobalt compact car, traveling north on County Road 491 (S. Lecanto Highway), when for an unknown reason or reasons, she lost control of the vehicle, south of Triple M Ranch Road, which resulted in the vehicle departing the roadway and colliding with a tree. The driver suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. 

According to Sergeant Steve Gaskins, Public Affairs Officer for Florida Highway Patrol Troop C, the woman involved in the crash had been reported missing by her family on April 17, 2025, and the last information from her track was April 18, 2025 at 6:00 pm, and she was located at 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 26, 2025, "In a very hard-to find-location off the roadway. "
