Bronson man killed in Gilchrist County crash on SR 26

Gilchrist County, Florida - A 57 year-old man from Bronson, Florida died as the result of traveling off the roadway and striking a utility pole in Trenton (Gilchrist County), Florida. The incident occurred at 3:29 pm on Thrsday, April 24, 2025 on State Road 26.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the Bronson man was driving a pickup truck, traveling west on State Road 26, near the intersection of SE 7th Court, and failed to keep the vehicle within it's lane of travel. The pickup truck traveled across the center line and onto the south shoulder of the roadway, where it struck a utility pole with its front. 

After the collision, the pickup truck rotated counterclockwise and came to rest facing southeast, blocking the eastbound lane of State Road 26. 

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash by emergency medical services (EMS). The press release stated that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
