Pedestrian dies after being struck on US 441 in Summerfield, FL by vehicle driven by Inverness man

Summerfield (Marion County), Florida - A pedestrian was killed on Friday, April 18, 2025, when he was struck by a pickup truck at 1:15 pm in Summerfield. The incident occurred on U. S. Highway 441 at SE 151 Street.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 57 year-old man from Inverness, Florida was driving a white 2025 Chevrolet pickup truck, traveling south on U.S. Highway 441 in the outside lane.
A male pedestrian - whose identity and age was unknown at the time of the press release - was walking south, near the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 441, pushing a metal cart, when the front right of the Chevrolet pickup truck collided with the pedestrian, which propelled the pedestrian in a southwesterly direction until he came to rest on the west grass shoulder.
The driver of the pickup truck pulled over and stopped on the west grass shoulder, south of the collision area. The driver received minor injuries. His passenger, a 35 year-old man from Inverness, was not injured as a result of the crash. Both the driver and his passenger wore a seatbelt.
