Man dies as a result of colliding into a water tanker truck on SR 44 in Inverness

Inverness, Florida - An Inverness man lost his life as the result of a traffic crash that occurred at 12:10 pm on Wednesday afternoon, April 9, 2025, in Inverness.
               
According to the Florida HIghway Patrol, the 44 year-old Inverness resident was driving a GMC Sierra pickup truck, traveling west on State Road 44 in the outside lane. Near the intersection of South Redbud Terrace, the driver lost control of the pickup truck and collided with the rear of a water tanker that was being operated by a 44 year-old man from Ocala, Florida. The tanker was traveling west on State Road 44, watering the grass median in an active construction zone that had amber warning lights activated in the inside lane.   
               
The Inverness man suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The Ocala man was not injured during the incident.
