US 19 in Crystal River: man crashes into vehicle and dies; his passenger seriously injured

Crystal River (Citrus County), Florida - A two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred  in Crystal River at 3:45 pm, Wednesday afternoon, February 26, 2025, resulted in the death of one driver and serious injuries to his passenger.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 71 year-old man from Homosassa, Florida was driving a Hyundai Accent subcompact car, traveling west in a private parking lot located at 275 U.S. Highway 19, and exited the parking lot onto U.S. Highway 19, entering into the path of a GMC Yukon sport utility vehicle (SUV) that was traveling north on U.S. Highway 19. This resulted in the GMC Yukon SUV striking the Hyundai Accent car.

The driver of the Hyundai Accent car suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. His passenger, a 69 year-old woman, also of Hoomosassa, suffered serious injuries,

The passengers of the GMC Yukon SUV were from Homosassa. The driver, a 39 year-old woman, suffered minor injuries, and her 11 year-old female passenger was not injured.
