Two killed in crash involving truck and school bus on US 19 at SR 24 in Otter Creek, FL

Otter Creek (Levy County), Florida - Two people inside a pickup truck died as the result of crashing into a school bus at 5:58 am on Wednesday morning, February 19, 2025.
The two occupants of the pickup truck - the driver, a 76 year-old man, and his passenger, a 72 year-old woman, both from Otter Creek - died at the scene of the crash and were pronounced deceased, on-scene, by personnel with Levy County Fire Rescue.
There were no students on board the school bus, and the school bus driver, a 39 year-old woman from Chiefland, Florida, received minor injuries. She was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 19, at the intersection of State Road 24, in Otter Creek, Florida.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the pickup truck was traveling west on State Road 24, approaching the intersection of U.S. Highway 19, when it crossed over the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 19 and entered the southbound lanes, directly into the path of the school bus that was traveling south of U.S. Highway 19, violating the school bus's right-of-way, and striking it's right side with its front section in a T-bone type collision.
As a result of the crash, the southbound lanes of U.S.Highway19, and entry onto State Road 24 were obstructed. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) was on-scene to assist the Florida highway Patrol with traffic control.
