Pedestrian crossing US 19 in Homosassa struck by truck and killed

On Thursday afternoon, February 6, 2025, a pedestrian was killed when he attempted to cross a highway and was struck by a tractor-trailer in Homosassa. The incident occurred at 2:20 pm on U.S. Highway 19, south of West Merrivale Lane.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the tractor-trailer, driven by a 50 year-old man from Ocala, Florida, was traveling south on U.S. Highway 19, when the pedestrian, a 35 year-old man from Weeki Wachee, Florida, attempted to cross the highway and entered into the path of the tractor-trailer and was struck by it.  

The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
