Williston motorcyclist killed in US 41, Morriston head-on crash caused by SUV passing truck

Morriston (Levy County), Florida - A three-vehicle traffic crash that occurred at 5:45 am on Thursday, January 30, 2025, resulted in the death of the driver of a motorcycle, serious injuries to the driver of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and minor injuries to the driver of a pickup truck. The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 41, south of the intersection with SE 70th Lane, in Morriston, Florida.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 57 year-old man from Ocala, Florida was driving a SUV, traveling north on U.S. Highway 41, when he began traveling north in the southbound lane to pass a pickup truck traveling ahead of him (also traveling north on U.S. Highway 41), driven by a 29 year-old man from Williston, Florida. As the SUV driver was passing the truck, he collided head-on with a motorcycle traveling south in the southbound lane of U.S. Highway 41, when the 57 year-old man from Morriston, Florida driving the motorcycle was unable to avoid a collision with the oncoming SUV traveling in his lane of travel.
Debris from the collision between the SUV and the motorcycle struck the front of the pickup truck.
The drivers of the SUV and pickup truck were both wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and the driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet.
