Eagle Lake man killed, Inglis man critically injured, in SR 121, Williston crash

Levy County, Florida - An Eagle Lake, Florida man died and an Inglis, Florida man was critically injured as the result of a two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred in the Williston Highlands area of Williston, Florida at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. The crash occurred on State Road 121, just north of SE 28 Street.  

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 41 year-old man from Eagle Lake, Florida was driving a pickup truck, traveling north on State Road 121, when his vehicle partially exited the roadway, with a portion of the vehicle traveling onto the east grass shoulder, which caused the driver to lose control of the truck and overcorrect the steering. As the result, the truck traveled back, toward the roadway, and crossed over the center line. The right, front section of the truck struck the left front section of a van, traveling south on State Road 121, driven by the 57 year-old man from Inglis.
 
After the impact, both vehicles rotated in a counterclockwise direction. The pickup truck came to rest obstructing the southbound lane of State Road 121, and the van came to rest on the west grass shoulder, on its left side. 

The 41 year-old driver of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased on the scene of the crash, and the 57 year-old man from Inglis, the driver of the van, was transported to a hospital with critical injuries. 

According to a FHP press release, the driver of the truck was not wearing a seatbelt, while the driver of the van was.The investigation is ongoing.
