Crystal River man dies in crash with trailer/tractor on US 19 at CR 488 in Crystal River

Crystal River, Florida - A 88 year-old man from Crystal River died as the result of a traffic crash that occurred at 11:55 am on Monday, November 4, 2024, on U.S. Highway 19, at the intersection of W. Dunnellon Road (County Road 488) in north Crystal River.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the Crystal River man was driving a Ford Escape sport utility vehicle (SUV), traveling south on U.S. Highway 19, and as he attempted to make a left turn to travel east on West Dunnellon Road, he traveled into the path of a tractor trailer rig, traveling north on U.S. Highway 19, driven by a 50 year-old man from Albany, Georgia, which resulted in the Ford Escape being struck by the tractor trailer rig.
 
The man from Crystal River suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.  

The driver of the tractor trailer rig suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
