Levy County, Florida - A two vehicle traffic crash that occurred at 4:12 pm on September 18, 2024, near Chiefland, Florida, resulted in injuries to all three passengers of the two vehicles, one who suffered serious injuries. The crash occurred on county Road 345 (which runs from U.S. Route 27 Alternate, east of Chiefland, to County Road 332 southwest of Chiefland).
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by a 53 year-old woman from Trenton, Florida, was traveling north on County Road 345 and passed another vehicle that was also traveling north. Upon re-entering the northbound lane after passing the vehicle, the driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line, and traveled into the southbound lane, which caused the front right of the Chevrolet Trailblazer to strike the front left of a Lexus ES300 that was traveling south on County Road 345, driven by a 61 year-old man from Gainesville, Florida.
Following the impact, the Chevrolet Trailblazer rotated counterclockwise and overturned onto its right side coming to final rest on the east shoulder of County Road 345.
The Lexus ES300 came to rest on the west shoulder of County Road 345.
The drivers of both vehicles suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and the passenger of the Chevrolet Trailblazer, a 23 year-old man from Trenton, Florida, suffered serious injuries; all were transported to a local hospital.
