Inverness, FL - As of August 14, 2024, a segment of the Withlacoochee State Trail is closed for construction - from mile marker 27 (south of the Fort Cooper Trailhead) to mile marker 28.58 (Eden Drive).

This closure, Segment 1 of 4 segment closures of the Phase 2 repaving, is part of a $1.3 million project to resurface portions of the trail in Citrus County, Florida. Construction will take place in segments, with one segment area of the trail closed at a time. Each segment will be closed around-the-clock for several weeks.

Segment 1 is anticipated to reopen to trail users within the first two weeks of September, weather permitting. For safety, the public is asked to stay off the closed segment at all times until it reopens.

For more information about the project and the segments to be resurfaced, please visit the project webpage: www.fdottampabay.com/project/1056/443358-2-52-01.
